Back

8/27/02
Well since everyone I email likes The Onion horoscopes so much, I'll just link to them here.  OK, back to work you grubs!

8/26/02
I see you waiting all eagerly with anticipated minds.  If that makes sense to you read on.  If not, go elsewhere.
So what DID I do this weekend?  Good question.  Especially Friday night.  I think I watched the Abyss, and sadly it did not watch me too.  If you've never seen it, do so.  A great underwater Sci-Fi adventure.  C'mon, how can you refuse a movie where someone uses the line, "Slicker than snot."  See, you can't.
Saturday, did the auto oil change\checkup thing, which wasn't much fun, but the place I go to is right next to Cliff's!!  MMmmmm....  Then, that night, I went out to Penang with D-mo, Rosie, Tricia, CATHY, ROSS, and Timotheus.  There was much good food to be had.  It was there that I found out that CATHY felt that she wasn't mentioned enough on my webpage, and that CATHY doesn't visit it any more.  So, CATHY, doesn't know that everyone will be looking at here this week.  And by Everyone, I of course mean the three people who look at this page.
Oh yeah, and ROSS was happy because he got his drum after 100 billion years of waiting.  That's right, ROSS was waiting before drums, or even the universe itself, existed.
Sunday, I did NOTHING.  Yup, I ceased to exist for an entire day, which means I'm really a whole day younger than I should be.  WOW! I feel great!  A whole day.....wow....
So today I was off, so I took my car to get fixed, yup a follow up to Saturday.  One scary side note, I take my car for checkups a lot more often than I get them.  Actually I haven't been to a doctor in a couple o years, but I digress.  So I brought it there because I needed 4 new tires (funny how <shift>4 is $, ironic in this case) and I needed my alignment re....aligned.   It took about 3 hours to do and I had no transport.  So I decided to get some food.  Some Indian food YUM!  So I walked along route 10 to the Clay Oven.  Oh so delicious.  Then walked back.  Then paid..ugh.  Then went grocery shopping, but did notice that my steering wheel no longer rattles in my hands as I drive.  So here I am with sore, stinky feet.  What a lucky human stink baby I am!

Here for your viewing pleasure, Charlie's Angels, cruising for boys!

As you can see, Tricia's and CATHY's part was a blast.

Ok late Update on the day of the Sun.
So, Friday we went for Craig's Birthday, we met at his place and then went to a bar known as The Verona Inn.  Now, I'm not a big bar fan and this was quite loud so you had trouble talking to the person next to you and yelling aint my thing.  But twas good to see Craig and many others, so it was very worth it.  Then I went with Lauren, Dave, Sean and Gina to the Pilgrim Diner, who has Peacocks on all their menus and no Pilgrims to be found....hmmmmm....
Saturday, I went to get my oil changed, but they were booked so I made an appointment for next weekend.  Then went to Kat's birthday party, where I saw many people I haven't seen in a while and met some other people which were pretty cool, and also chatted with some people I've met but never quite talked to before.  I think that cover's everything.  Ross and I tried to get Tricia on the Nextel, alas, no response.  I crashed there which leads to...
Sunday, I got up and watched Lethal Weapon on TV, then went and took my grandparents, who live nearby, to brunch.  I can't remember the name of the place, and couldn't even when I was there.  It's quite slippery, it is.  Then I came home and chilled.

In other news...Tom apparently won the contest.  Hooray Tom!  Now I need to think of another one.  Oh, I know!

***Contest***
What should my next contest be?  Or if enough people respond, my next few contests.  Why should I do all the work, when you guys can do it for me?  You have ideas.  All three of you, so get ideaing!  And of course send them to me.

Also, due to popular request I am putting up a FAQ.

The TOOL show last night was awesome!  I like the opening band, Tomahawk.  Mike Patton still rocks. They had these 2 fat bald guys in their underwear on either side of the stage.  It was quite amusing.  Tool came on and opened with a cover of The Ramones' Commando.  Here is their play list to the best of my memory:
Commando (Ramones cover)
Sober
The Grudge
Stinkfist
Forty-six & 2
Schism
The Patient
Opiate
Parabol/Parabola
Disposition
Reflection/Jam
Lateralus

If I'm missing something or wrong about anything and someone out there knows, let me know (since, while I know the songs, I often don't know the title that goes with them).
All right, getting ready to go out for Craig's boithday.  Catch y'all later.

My shadow's Shedding skin and I've been picking scabs again. I'm down digging through my old muscles looking for a clue. I've been crawling on my belly clearing out what could've been. I've been wallowing in my own confused and insecure delusions for a piece to cross me over or a word to guide me in. I wanna feel the changes coming down. I wanna know what I've been hiding in my shadow. Change is coming through my shadow. My shadow's shedding skin I've been picking my scabs again. I've been crawling on my belly clearing out what could've been I've been wallowing in my own chaotic and insecure delusions. I wanna feel the change consume me, feel the outside turning in. I wanna feel the metamorphosis and cleansing I've endured within my shadow. Change is coming. Now is my time. Listen to my muscle memory. Contemplate what I've been clinging to. Forty-six and two ahead of me. I choose to live and to grow, take and give and to move, learn and love and to cry, kill and die and to be paranoid and to lie, hate and fear and to do what it takes to move through. I choose to live and to lie, kill and give and to die, learn and love and to do what it takes to step through. See my shadow changing, stretching up and over me soften this old armor. hoping I can clear the way by stepping through my shadow, coming out the other side. Step into the shadow. Forty six and two are just ahead of me.

The wait is over!  The Webpage hath been updateth.
OK..on to the meat.
Friday I was going to see The soft Parade, a Doors cover band, but I and everyone else was pretty tired, so I ended up staying in all night and....doing something...ok.
Saturday was Tricia and Cathy's big party at Colleen and John's house.  Got that?  Good.  The party was lots of fun, with lots of food, Uno, and horseshoes.  Colleen made a great pesto, yumilicious.  Matt was Uno king.  Tricia lost her balls.  I drank an entire 2 liter bottle of Dew all by my lonesome, I'm such an alcoholic.  Thanks all for such a great time.  Oh yeah, I got some more China pics from Tricia so start holding your breaths.
Sunday, I lounged all day, then went to Sean's and ate and we went to the cheapo theater to see...

*Movie Review*
This was a good spy thriller.  It was well paced and skipped out on a lot of the cliché's.  I was trying to figure out some of the character's and was happy to say that everything I thought of was wrong.  A thoroughly enjoyable movie.  If you have a cheapo theater near you, go see this, if not, well, it should be out for rental soon enough.

Anathema Device will be playing Monday October 7: Alchemy @ CBGB's Gallery. NYC with Hate In The Box. Mark you calendars...........NOW.

All right, don't forget the contest, and for Pete's sake, Ask Gir.

8/9/02
But later in the day....
Ok, so I added some more pics to the China section.  Didn't update the diary thing yet because I don't have my notes here.  Maybe I should photocopy them so I have them with me at work and at home...hmm.....
Also added We Put Out Records to the links page.  Check them out.  And, FYI, Stephen Baker is involved with that bunch.

8/9/02
Greetings all!
Decided to have some fun today.  Put up a new section called Ask Gir.  Where you can ask Gir any question and he will eventually post his response.  Also there's....

***Contest***
Hopefully, the contest can become a regular feature here.  So without further adieu, here it is:
Apparently Tom <a href=www.blanktom.com> forgot his website password and that is why he hasn't updated the site.  So, the contest is....GUESS TOM'S PASSWORD.  Send any and all guesses here, and I'll pass them to Tom.  The winner gets...well, full access to blanktom.com until he changes the password.  Or maybe Tom will thank you in some way.  But this is for fun so guess and send.

8/5/02
Now for the weekend update which has never been the same since Dennis Miller left.  Sure Norm McDonald was good, but not quite as good as Dennis.  Sigh.
Anyway, Li started a new job last week (yay) and here's what she had to say:
so i seem to be blending in pretty well with the rest
of the staff and stuff here.
got to go to the apartments...they have them in this
really nice place call the royale.  they are pretty
nice, very nice views.  its a nice like 45 story
building.  kinda dwarfs the rest of the neighborhood.
being that most of the buildings up here are about 7
or less.  right on this lexington in this area anyway.

Sounds nice, huh?
So, on to Friday I hung out with Po and met up with Blank Tom to see Signs.  The review is posted below.  Po also picked up his Tool ticket for the concert on the 15th.
Saturday I went to D-mo's for much role-playing fun.  My character died and was resurrected by his god (as far as he's concerned, and no one's really willing to argue with him) for the third time.  Hmmm...Viking berserker religious fanatic.  What fun!  Then after that I drove, had Wendy's mmmm... and caught the train to NYC to visit Li n Da Gusta.  We were later joined by Dan (Whose page is showing up on my links page ....now.), Tom and Ed.  We played a hand of Ohn Furcht und Adel, known as Citadel to US players.  It was fun, but we couldn't finish because Ed had to leave.  Soon after we went to bed, and I  must say, Li n Gusta's sofa bed...comfy.
Sunday we had pancakes, sausage and eggs.  Veggie sausages are down right tasty.  We then went to a music store, Tom left us and Li and I got tickets to see the Weakerthans at Maxwell's in Hoboken.  (Alas it seems that the WebPages for both Maxwell's and The Weakerthans are not working...odd.)  We then hung out and watched The Naked Man which was written by Ethan Coen of Coen Brothers fame.  The movie was funny and you could definatly see the Coen touch in it.  This was followed by dinner at Panna, an Indian restaurant.  I had chicken vindaloo, very yummy and spicy.  It made my lips tingle.  Then I went back to the apt with Li (Gusta went to see a hockey-punk band), we hung out watched TV and I left.  Got home and went to sleep.
At some point today, I watched Tomb Raider, which was kinda dumb, but a bit entertaining.  That's it except...

Uberjerk will be playing Tuesday 8/6 at 10PM at the Acme Underground on Great Jones Between Broadway and Lafayette.  See Baker, Da Gusta and Scratchbomb slam the audience with their wild sound.

*Movie Review*
This movie was great!  I was on the edge of my seat for pretty much the whole show.  M. Night Shyamalan was able to keep up the suspense but also to break it up with little bits of humor.  The cast was great.  I was a little disappointed by the ending at first but on further contemplation, I realized it was what I should've expected.  Because like his other movies, This one is not about ghosts, or super heroes or aliens, it's about people.  And the people, characters and actors, in this movie were great.  So, bottom line, if you are expecting an epic alien invasion movie, don't bother.  If you want an incredible character driven story, see it, see it SEE IT!

OK, I updated again!  Wooooo! Beat that Tom!
Got some pics up and reorganized the China page.  Well got some pics up, removed them and didn't reload them, so must wait till I get home to do so.  Got a busy weekend ahead, so see you all later.
Well, I haven't had any announcements or color of any kind in a while so....

**Announcement**
Apparently this weekend is Matt's kitty's birthday.  So wish it a happy birthday everyone!!! (Not only do I have other plans for the party night, but I was never invited.)  But happy birthday anyway.

8/1/02
Slightly past midweek update. New month new calendar pic.  How exciting!!!  No not here, I meant on my calendar.  Here and at home.  What calendars you ask?  Why, I'll tell you.  At work I have the Despair Inc Calendar,  always amusing.  At home, I have the H. R. Giger Calendar.  Neeto, huh?
If you're bored check out my updates.  Added a new non-Baker related band to the Local Bands section. check out Matter!! (They've got Bongos!)  It has Matt of pool party fame (see below).
Also, Check out Tom's web page.  Apparently I inspired him to create a page and not update it in two months.   You're welcome!!!!  Also, he has no spellchecker.  Mosey on over to links and check him out as well as Timotheus's page.
Hopefully soon, I will get the new China pics that Tricia was nice enough to scan for me up.  Also Setup the Lil G website for her (Awwww, aren't I nice?).  Will put some pics up there and hopefully she will provide some text.  (Pssst.  You can use word and I can cut and paste even.)  And for no reason...Star Wars Episode II.
